About
This unique cable guided ferry is one of less than two dozen in the US. On it's eastward journey to Bemus or the return trip to Stow, the bow shifts from one end to the other. This uncommon vessel always goes forward. Never backward. The paddle-wheels aren’t decoration, they power the boat between The Narrows. Her description as The Icon of the lake has been earned.

A ride on The Ferry is a special way to see beautiful Chautauqua Lake.  On foot, in a car, on a motorcycle or riding a bike your brief journey gives you time to step away from the hectic pace of today & reflect on the importance of seeing the world around you. Nobody rides The Ferry if they are in a hurry. Come take a trip back in time.

The Ferry is operated by licensed pilots who can tell you all about the long service connecting Stow and Bemus Point. On-board Ambassadors are glad to share knowledge about the history of the region & give tips on other activities. For visitors or for those who live in the region, the summer isn't complete without a trip on The Bemus Point-Stow Ferry.

A program started by John & Betty Lou Cheney, The Bemus Point-Stow Ferry is a floating classroom for local elementary students. This gives them the opportunity for real-time understanding of the history of their region. This is one of the most rewarding events for the volunteers that keep The Ferry running.
